Someone please correct me if I’m wrong, but is it not a good thing if you stick to an employment position for more than one year?? I’m currently experiencing difficulty because I have had three jobs in my life, one at a theater that closed after I worked there for three months, one at a Wal-Mart where my parents live for over two years, and one in Morris while I was in college. I had very good reasons for leaving each position and gave ample notice (except with the theater, where the manager gave us notice) when I left. Now I’m being punished because my new place of (possible) employment can’t get a reference of any kind from Wal-Mart, which is not unusual from a place that has over 400 employees and a turnover of over 70%, especially since I worked there over four years ago. Since the theater is closed (and it’s been over five years since I worked there) that leaves me with one professional reference. This new employer requires two. Ha! I can’t say that sticking with a job for several years at a time is a bad thing for an employee to do, but apparently if I had had five jobs in the last five months, I’d have an easier time at getting employed. Boo.
